In order to boost women’s leadership in the maritime and ocean business community, the World’s Ocean Council (WOC) and the Women’s International Shipping & Trading Association (WISTA) are about to collaborate and sign an MoU, on 20 November at the annual WOC Sustainable Ocean Summit 2019 in Paris.
Signing the MoU, WOC and WISTA will further expand women’s major role in the Sustainable Blue Economy, giving them the ability to amplify their voice globally. The MoU, will be signed at the 7th Sustainable Ocean Summit (SOS) 2019, a session which represents the gender diversity and women’s advantages through their headship in the ocean business industry.

…said the President of WISTA International, Despina Panayiotou Theodosiou, who also announced how honored she is to partner with the World Ocean Council.
Through this partnership, WOC will give the chance to women to promote their engagement in ‘Corporate Ocean Responsibility’ among its members and the broader ocean business. “We encourage women’s network organizations from other ocean industry sectors to consider partnering with the WOC as well” , added Paul Holthus, WOC Founding President and CEO.
Counting more than 3,000 members in 49 countries since 1974, WISTA which recently received the Women in Shipping Award of the 2019 CAREER4SEA, promotes diversity in the maritime, trading and logistics sectors, empowering women to lead through their unique perspective worldwide.
While WOC is an international non-profit organization, which focuses to expand industry leadership and collaboration in ocean sustainable development since their very first begging in 2008.
