On September 30, a bulker transited through a fish farm off the coast of Turkey, hitting several pens and releasing more than one million fish into the sea.
More specifically, the bulker encountered the fish farm north of the Bodrum Peninsula.
The vessel was arriving in the bay in order to pick up a cargo of feldspar ore, when it ran through three fish pens.
The accident released around one million sea bream into the ocean.
According to responders, the ship’s propellers and rudders were fouled by the pen’s net structure.
The Turkish Coast Guard is currently investigating the cause of the incident.
