Teekay LNG Partners announced that its first icebreaker LNG 172,000 cubic meter ARC7 newbuilding, ‘Eduard Toll’, which was launched on January 21, recently completed its gas trials.
Eduard Toll is Teekay’s first of six 172,000 cubic meter ARC7 LNG carrier newbuildings and, as the company informed, it was designed in order to be used in the Yamal LNG project.
The new icebreaker LNG carrier’s construction began earlier last year and its launched took place on Saturday, 21 January at the DSME shipyard in South Korea.
YAMAL LNG is an integrated project encompassing natural gas production, liquefaction and shipping. The Project consists of construction of a liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant with an output capacity of around 16.5 million tons per year, using the South Tambey Field as a resource base. The field’s proven and probable reserves, by PRMS standards, are estimated at 926 billion cubic meters. Extensive transportation infrastructure is being built in the scope of the Project, including a sea port and the Sabetta Airport.
