Maestro and Candy tanker vessels are still on fire and they stopped drifting, according to TASS. After the explosion of the LPG tanker on January 22, both vessels caught fire, resulting to 10 crewmembers dead and 10 missing and presumed dead in the Kerch Strait, Black Sea.
Mainly, the Russian agency reported that both tankers are still on fire and their location remains the same. They either stopped themselves or were halted by rescue vessels.

Moreover, rescuers have scheduled to board the Candy tanker on February 1, in order to assess the condition and try to drop anchor. Yet, all the planned steps of the rescue team, depend on the weather conditions and the level of danger.
According to sources there’s still a search operation taking place along with passing vessels, on duty rescue tugs located near the tankers and aircraft, whereas the rescue vessels that began the search operation were released.
Also, aerial vehicles were in operation, the Emergencies Ministry’s Mi-8 and An-26, and an unmanned aerial vehicles from the Black Sea Fleet operated.
Concluding, TASS’s source confirmed that the fire became less intense, and in the meantime the wind in the area is about 9 m/s and the waves are up to 1.5 metres.
