Transport Malta published a Safety Investigation Report concerning the injury of an AB, reporting that the factor of the accident was the release of the securing lashings at the time when the crew member was still on the mobile scaffold tower. The company was recommended to make sure that climbing of scaffold is always done from the inside.

Transport Malta's MSIU issued an investigation report into the grounding of the Maltese registered bulk carrier 'Marbella' on North Reef, Paracel Islands, on 28 September 2017. The investigation showed that the bridge was solely manned by one person at the time of the incident. 

Transport Malta released its report about the 17 May 2017 accident, when Gortynia, a fully laden cape size bulk carrier, collided with the bulk carrier DZ Qingdao in Singapore Strait. Gortynia sustained major damage to her port side forward ballast tanks, while DZ Qingdao also sustained major damages to her bow.

Transport Malta released its investigation report, regarding the accident on 13 May 2017, with the Maltese registered bulk carrier Universal Durban. The ship while on passage from Bell Bay, Tasmania to Bintulu, Malaysia, ran aground on a shoal at 12 knots, South of the island of Pulau Serasan. The vessel sustained minor damages in the bow area and bottom shell plating.

MSIU issued an investigation report on the grounding of the Malta-flagged container ship 'Umm Salal', off Selangor, Malaysia, in 6 April 2017. Evidence from the report suggested that the OOW had  to interpret his observations and plan his actions practically on his own, which is considered to be the immediate cause.

MSIU issued a report analyzing the probable causes of the main engine damage on the RoRo cargo ship 'Chodziez', while en route from Oran, Algeria, to Marseille, France, in March 2017. The investigation concluded that the oil mist alarm was triggered by a mist of oil, which was generated by a hot spot, following the failure of the bearing shells.

After the ship 'Armata' had departed Tianjin, China in ballast on 15 January 2017 and anchored outside the limits of Tianjin port  awaiting for orders, a crewmember fell down the stairs in the ship, losing his life. After an autopsy report was conducted, no narcotic or psychotropic drugs were revealed, but the autopsy indicated presence of ethanol in blood and in the urine.

The vessel 'Immensity' was heading to Limassol, Cyprus from Antwerp, Belgium, carrying 8,062 metric tonnes of general cargo, including logs on deck, when the chief mate suffered injuries after falling to the deck due to inclement weather. The cause of the accident was a high energy trauma caused by exposure to green seas on deck.

While the vessel 'Sultan Bey' was on a voyage from Alexandroupoli, Greece to Marseilles, France, with 003 mt of wheat in bulk, a motorman was injured while he was cleaning the fuel oil vent overflow containment tray. The motorman underwent a surgical intervention. He recovered well and was discharged from hospital.

On 27 November 2016, the Maltese registered cargo vessel 'Sider Capri' and the Italian flagged ro-ro vessel 'Grande Anversa' collided in the Çanakkale Strait’s Traffic Separation Scheme, both sustaining structural damages. The safety investigation by MSIU found that a close quarter situation developed to a point that a collision became inevitable.
