Pavilion Energy has conducted the first commercial ship-to-ship LNG bunkering in the Port of Singapore. The operation included a reload of 2,000m3 of LNG onto a small-scale tanker at the newly-modified Secondary Jetty of the Singapore LNG Terminal, followed by a ship-to-ship transfer to the receiving heavy-lift commercial vessel.

'Wes Amelie', the world’s first container ship equipped with an LNG engine, received LNG via a STS operation, on April 21, from the world's largest LNG bunker supply vessel 'Kairos', in the anchorage area of Visby, Sweden. This operation is considered as a milestone, as 'Wes Amelie' received LNG for the first time from a bunker supply vessel.

AET Tankers, Petroleum and Chemical tanker owner, announced that its first LNG dual-fuel sister Aframaxes undertook their maiden ship-to-ship LNG bunkering in April. The company's vessels, Eagle Brasilia and Eagle Bintulu, conducted bunkering operations in Port of Rotterdam.

The Sri Lanka Ports Authority announced the government's green light, concerning the order for three-to-shore cranes for the Jaya Container Terminal (JCT) in Colombo. The new cranes, that costed approximately US$25 million, will be an important step for the JCT 5 expansion project.

The North Korean-flagged tanker Saebyol, which was transmitting as a fishing boat, was spotted alongside a vessel of unknown nationality on the high seas, conducting a prohibited ship-to-ship transfer as the Royal Navy reported.

The bunkering of ships, which formerly was a relatively low skill and low value activity, has deployed into a highly focused shipboard operation, due to the continuously rising oil price in conjunction with the imperative need for high marine environmental protection.

Excelerate Energy and Equinor Energy completed the first-ever ship-to-ship (STS) transfer of LNG in The Bahamas on February 7, 2019. The STS was conducted using Excelerate’s 150,900 cbm floating storage regasification unit (FSRU) Exemplar and Equinor’s 142,759 cbm LNG carrier Arctic Voyager.

Texas-based Excelerate Energy said its floating storage and regasification unit Exquisite completed the company’s 1,500th ship-to-ship LNG transfer operation. The transmit occurred at the Engro Elengy Terminal in Pakistan, according to the company. 

Japanese shipping company MOL published a video of the world’s largest floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) in operation in the Turkish port of Dörtyol, Hatay. The FSRU Challenger began operations in Turkey on February 2018. The floating storage and regasification unit has an LNG storage capacity of 263,000 cubic meters and has re-shipment and gas transfer capabilities.
