Largest simulation test ever realized

The European Maritime Simulator Network will be used to validate the STM concepts and services, running the largest civil simulation test ever, with 29 manned bridges in 10 centres. The purpose is to reflect the STM concept, to validate and evaluate the findings and to give input to various hypotheses and the Formal Safety Assessment developed by other activities within the project.

New survey measures maritime safety

A group within the STM project was formed to develop a real-time Maritime Safety Index. Based on maritime expert judgement, ship traffic is assessed with regards to safe navigation. In order to capture their assessment of what is considered to be “safe”, multiple various traffic situations in both open and constrained waters are graphically presented in an on-line survey.

STM Validation Project for safer and more efficient industry

The MONALISA 2.0 project’s successor, Sea Traffic Management (STM) Validation Project, aims to be the next step for a more efficient and environmentally friendly maritime sector. For this large e-navigation project, 300 ships will start using STM services on-board, 13 ports will implement Port CDM solutions and the world’s largest civil maritime simulator network will be enlarged and used for extensive testing of complex traffic situations.
