The Port of Oslo plans to build one of the world's most environmental efficient working boats. The boat will be specially designed for efficient collection of waste at the water surface. Expected to be delivered in December 2019, the boat will be built by Grovfjord Ship Yard. The contract amounts at NOK 23 million.

Indonesia has plans to upgrade the Port of Batam with a 1.2 trillion rupiah (S$115 million) financing from state port operator Pelindo I. This decision comes after Malaysia's aspiration to develop a multi-million-dollar project off Johor's Port. The plan for the Port of Batam aims to improve cargo handling, in order to enhance its competitiveness.

The Northwest Seaport Alliance approved lease agreements and authorized construction on the Terminal 5 Modernization Program. NWSA now readies the Terminal to return to use as a premier international container terminal. In addition, an interlocal agreement was also approved, enabling the Port of Seattle to use a portion of Terminal 46 for a cruise berth.

The US Coast Guard announced that it will impose conditions of entry on ships arriving from ports in the Republic of Seychelles. Conditions of entry are intended to protect the US from vessels arriving from countries that have been found to have deficient anti-terrorism port measures in place. Starting on April 12, 2019, certain conditions of entry will apply to any ship that visited a port in the Seychelles in its last five port calls.

As the Warehouse 6 at EBS Laurenshaven terminal is completed, the Port of Rotterdam now has another asset in the transshipment of high quality minerals and biomass. For European Bulk Services, this also marks the next step in the transition from coal to other products. A total 126,000 cubic metres of covered storage capacity has been added, bringing EBS’s total capacity in Rotterdam to 650,000 cubic metres.

ESPO welcomed the Common Understanding between the European Parliament and the Council on the future Connecting Europe Facility (CEF II). On 25 March, the European Parliament’s Transport and Industry Committees confirmed the partial agreement, which sets out the EU’s funding priorities and modalities in the transport sector for the period 2021-2027. The precise budget will be negotiated under the new Parliament.

Trade through the Port of London reached 53.2 million tonnes during 2018, an amount that was last seen more than ten years ago. The Port of Corpus Christi in Texas should be capable of loading Aframaxes, Suezmaxes and partially loaded VLCCs to export US crude by October 2020, an executive with The Carlyle Group, the company that is involved in the port's expansion, informed. Ferris Hussein, managing director at the Carlyle Group, noted that the Port is expected to be ready by October, 2020, at 54 feet.

The Vancouver Fraser Port Authority proposed to make the following amendments to the Port Information Guide to further promote safety within the Port of Vancouver: Replace the existing Vancouver and Approaches Traffic Separation Scheme (TSS) with the English Bay Routing System (EBRS); Establish associated procedures for the operation of vessels within the EBRS.
