Port of Langnas to have rope-free mooring system

Trelleborg will provide to the Port of Langnas an automated rope-free mooring system, 'AutoMoor'. The system uses smart technologies to enable a faster berthing process and improve safety levels within the port environment. The port has international cruise ferry and domestic ro-ro ferry berths and is situated in the Baltic Sea, on the archipelago of Aland which has ferry traffic between Sweden and Finland via Aland.

Freeport of Riga announces opening after renovated piers

The Freeport of Riga announced that it held a ceremony at the beginning of 2019 to commission two piers, ZO-1 and ZO-2, after the redevelopment, which took almost two years. The projects consists of expansion of both piers. The redevelopment project completed by SIA Rīgas Universālais Termināls (RUT) will allow maintaining long-term competitiveness and satisfying growing requirements of our customers by serving even larger ships at our well-suited piers.

South African ports’ cargo volumes increase

South Africa's port of Durban resulted with an overall throughput of 2.975 million TEU, increased from the 2.699 million in 2017. That’s an rise of 276.000 TEU for the year, equal to over 10%, which will be a boost to Transnet Port Terminals (TPT). Nationally the increase on containers was 5.3% with the total for all ports reaching 4.833 million TEU, according to the Mercury.

Port Brisbane’s cruise terminal moves forward

Australian Port of Brisbane has announced the principal contractors for its AUD 158 million (USD 114.3 million) Brisbane International Cruise Terminal, paving the way for construction to begin in the coming months.  Cameron Dick, Minister for State Development, Manufacturing, Infrastructure and Planning stated that the 158 million reflect the future of the cruising industry in Queensland.
