Following the majority of the ports globally that have issued restrictions and precautionary measures, port of Tallinn is operating thermal cameras that will scan arriving passengers for fever in passenger terminals A and D.

Port of Tallin officially issued its annual cargo for 2019, marking 5.6 million tonnes and 2.3 million passengers who passed via its harbors, in the fourth quarter (Q4). As the Tallin's chairman highlighted, the IMO 2020 sulphur cap enhanced the port's liquid bulk volumes in the fourth quarter of 2019.

The Port of Tallin has officially announced the construction of  anew terminal located in the Harbor of Tallinn's Old City and the promenade area nearby the port, which will consist of energy efficiency and eco-friendly technologies. 

Estonian port of Tallinn begins plans to boost its operational efficiency and reduce emissions with the help of Cavotek, that will design, supply, commission and service two multi-unit MoorMaster automated mooring systems.

The Port of Tallinn and AS Alexela Invest signed an MoU to consider best solutions for developing and implementing an LNG terminal and servicing LNG tankers and bunkers. The MoU will also consider establishing port facilities for loading and unloading LNG on the Pakri peninsula by the Lahepere bay in Paldiski.

The EU has approved a EUR 21.4 million funding for infrastructure upgrade at the Estonian port of Tallinn and Finnish port of Helsinki, together with the City of Helsinki and the passenger ship operators Tallink, Viking Line and Eckerö Line. The total cost of the planned investments is EUR 71.2 million.

The port of Tallinn informed that, starting in 2018, all ships that use LNG as their main fuel will be able to apply for a discount of 4% on tonnage fees when calling at harbours of the Port of Tallinn. The goal of this initiative is to promote the adoption of environmentally friendlier technologies in the Baltic Sea shipping sector.

Within the scope of the Old City Harbour development, Port of Tallinn is planning the construction of a new cruise terminal, which is to be designed with sustainable and smart solutions in mind, to transform the area.

AS Tallink Grupp has announced that it has signed contracts with partners both in Finland and Estonia to be prepared for the launch of the new LNG-driven fast ferry Megastar starting on Helsinki-Tallinn route next year.

  The Port of Helsinki together with the Port of Tallinn and AS Tallink Grupp obtained EUR 29.3 million EU funding  within the 2014 CEF Transport Multi-Annual Calls for proposals for financing their infrastructure investments. The total cost of the planned investments is EUR 97.6 million. Helsinki-Tallinn line is one of the busiest international routes in the world – it serves about 8 million passengers per year while trucks and trailers carry over 3 million tons of cargo per year. The flows of traffic and passengers between the two ports have been constantly growing for a decade already. Therefore the project is crucial for both cargo and passenger flows to ensure the smooth traffic between Helsinki and Tallinn. At this stage the support to develop Helsinki-Tallinn maritime link on the period 2015-2018 is allocated as follows: Port of Helsinki will receive EUR 19.2 million to develop traffic and port facilities related to Helsinki-Tallinn line traffic, this includes the new fast flow terminal, ramp constructions for the vessels, gate services and street connections.
