Poland gets new shipping channel

A EUR 187 million (USD 205.4 million) contract was signed by Poland’s Maritime Office in Gdynia, for the development of a shipping channel through the Vistula Spit connecting the Vistula Lagoon with the Bay of Gdańsk. A channel, two breakwaters, two rotating bridges over the lock, four sluice gates, landscapes, buildings, roads and their soil reinforcement, and even a 190-hectare artificial island within the Vistula Lagoon are to be developed.

PGNiG and Venture Global LNG sign purchase agreement

Following the visit of Poland's President, Andrzej Duda to Washington D.C., the Polish Oil and Gas Company signed an agreement with Venture Global LNG to buy additional 1.5 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) of liquefied natural gas (LNG). The volume of LNG coming from the Plaquemines terminal will increase from 1.0 to 2.5 million tonnes per year, and specifically from 1.35 to 3.38 bcm of natural gas after regasification.

PCC Intermodal boosts railway connections from Rotterdam to Poland

The port of Rotterdam is well connected with the globe, being boosted by its rail sector; As such, PCC Intermodal train links Rotterdam and terminals in Frankfurt Oder, Kutno, Brzeg Dolny, Gliwice, Kolbuszowa and Poznań. The latter five cities are distributed across industrial areas in Poland. Thus, from April the train increased the frequency of this connection from seven to eight times a week.

PSA, PFR , IFM Investors acquire largest Polish container terminal

On 21 May 2019, after formal approval by the relevant competition authorities, PSA International, the Polish Development Fund and the IFM Global Infrastructure Fund, have completed the transaction to jointly acquire DCT Gdańsk, the largest container terminal in Poland. The consortium partners aim to further enhance the terminal's position and to look into more expansion needs as and when relevant.
