Norway establishes plan to eliminate recreational boat accidents

The Norwegian Minister of Trade and Industry Torbjørn Røe initiated an action plan last January to reduce the number of serious accidents related with the use of recreational craft. The government has a zero-accidents vision for boat traffic. In addition to the zero vision, an ambitious milestone for the first period has been set: 50% reduction in the number of fatalities associated with use of recreational craft before the end of the planning period.

The back up mode resulted to Aurora Explorer’s collision

Norway's Accident Investigation Board has released its report on the 2018 Aurora Explorer allision, implicating the use of back-up mode operation in the incident. On July 15 2018, the Aurora Explorer vessel collided with a quay while docking at Barentsburg. During the arrival, the 125 French-passengers were standing on the open deck, resulting to many falling when the collision occurred.

Norway to open three offshore wind areas

As the Norwegian Ministry of Petroleum and Energy announced, it submitted proposals to potentially open two areas for offshore wind development, while also looking to possibly open a third area. Specifically, the two proposed areas are 'Utsira Nord' and 'Sandskallen – Sørøya Nord' for offshore renewables. The ministry also asks for input on whether the area "Sørlige Nordsjø II" should be opened.
