The Norwegian Minister of Trade and Industry Torbjørn Røe initiated an action plan last January to reduce the number of serious accidents related with the use of recreational craft. The government has a zero-accidents vision for boat traffic. In addition to the zero vision, an ambitious milestone for the first period has been set: 50% reduction in the number of fatalities associated with use of recreational craft before the end of the planning period.

According to the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate, preliminary production figures for June 2019 show an average daily production of 1,409,000 barrels of oil, NGL and condensate. This marks a decrease of 184,000 barrels per day in comparison to May.

PSA Norway has carried out an audit of Maersk Drilling and Repsol Norge for the Yme development project. The audit took place from 6 to 10 May 2019 on the Yme development project, regarding the management of major accident risk and barriers. The audit found no non-conformities, however it audit identified improvement points.

Norway's Accident Investigation Board has released its report on the 2018 Aurora Explorer allision, implicating the use of back-up mode operation in the incident. On July 15 2018, the Aurora Explorer vessel collided with a quay while docking at Barentsburg. During the arrival, the 125 French-passengers were standing on the open deck, resulting to many falling when the collision occurred.

The Norwegian Petroleum Safety Authority visited the Transocean Norge rig, as part of the Transocean’s application for an Acknowledgement of Compliance (AoC) for the rig. The audit was aimed at the subject area emergency preparedness.

Inmarsat plans to introduce two new satellite payloads dedicated to the Arctic region, in collaboration with Space Norway and its subsidiary Space Norway HEOSAT. The new Global Xpress (GX) payloads will support the increasing demand for reliable mobile broadband services in the Arctic and throughout the world.

As the Norwegian Ministry of Petroleum and Energy announced, it submitted proposals to potentially open two areas for offshore wind development, while also looking to possibly open a third area. Specifically, the two proposed areas are 'Utsira Nord' and 'Sandskallen – Sørøya Nord' for offshore renewables. The ministry also asks for input on whether the area "Sørlige Nordsjø II" should be opened.

The world’s first cruise ship partially powered by batteries will leave northern Norway to start its maiden voyage, according to cruise operator Hurtigruten. The hybrid cruise ship 'Roald Amundsen's'  battery pack allows it to operate solely on batteries for about 45 to 60 minutes under ideal conditions.

Norway informed that it has decided against repairing the frigate 'Helge Instad', which collided with a Tsakos tanker in 2018. Norway decided not to repair the frigate as the cost would be more than NOK 12 billion ($1.37 billion), which is three times more the original cost.

The Norwegian Government announced an agreement with the state-owned company Space Norway to address the unstable broadband communication in the High North using satellites. The satellites are scheduled to be launched in 2022.
