Container shipping major Maersk accelerates the efforts to decarbonise marine operations with the launch of the world’s first carbon neutral liner vessel in 2023, seven years ahead of the initial 2030-ambition. 

AP Moller Maersk launched on January, a new block train dedicated to transporting Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) from China to Poland as mainland Europe continues to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic.

Following the container loss incident of Maersk Essen which took place on January 16, the vessel is about to arrive at the APM Terminals Lazaro Cardenas, Mexico.

The 13,100 teu Maersk Essen boxship has rerouted to Mexico instead of Los Angeles, after 750 fell from the ship in a storm.

Heavy weather in the North Pacific is probably the cause for the loss of containers of one of Maersk’s containerships. Namely, Maersk informed that about 750 containers were lost from Maersk Essen.

Maersk expects that the issues arising around the safety of ammonia and fuel types based on alcohols will be resolved in two to three years, making possible the order of ships that will run on these fuels, the company’s CEO Søren Skou stated.

Following the engine room fire onboard "Maersk Elba" which took place while the vessel was en route from Suez to Felixstowe, MSC decided to cover the costs related to the incident.
