Carbon intensity measures on LNG carriers to rise emissions, Rystad says

If the IMO’s proposed carbon intensity reduction target is applied to the world’s fleet of LNG carriers, the net result for the planet will be negative, as the global savings in the vessels’ CO2 emissions will be dwarfed by the pollution from gas-to-coal switching that the move would cause in Asia, new analysis by Norwegian intelligence firm Rystad Energy finds.
