In its latest Safety Digest, UK MAIB focuses on an incident where a crewmember on a fishing trawler had their hand stuck on the flaking machine’s rack and pinion arrangement; While the other deckhand tried to help, they panicked causing a more serious injury to the crewmember. 

The recently released Maritime NZ annual report suggests that Maritime fatalities in New Zealand have almost halved since 2015. Adding to this, 20 people were killed in New Zealand ports and harbors in the financial year ending 2019, compared to 35 in 2014–15. Only four of these were involved a commercial operation, with the rest being recreational.

The UK MAIB, in its recently published Safety Digest, focuses on a freight ro-ro vessel entering a port; Due to concerns of cold weather and disruptions to the vessel's water pipe system, the master ordered to rig a temporary curtain arrangement in the corridor, at deckhead height, leading to the injury of a seafarer who used a ladder improperly, which led to the ladder slipping. 

Norway's Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA) has launched an investigation into a serious work accident which took place on the Heimdal field in the North Sea on 28 November 2019, where two people were injured from an explosion in a gas cylinder.

Eleven sailors suffered minor injuries after a fire broke out late Thursday in the cargo hold of the amphibious warship USS Iwo Jima, while the ship was in maintenance at Naval Station Mayport, Florida. The fire broke out about 11:45 p.m. on Thursday, when sailors onboard reported smoke in a cargo hold.

The Republic of the Marshall Islands in its latest accident report focuses on the fatal injury of an oil tanker electrician, who got electrocuted on board "STI WINNIE" vessel. Investigators of the incident, assumed that he accidentally touched the live 440 volt (V) power terminals in the cabinet’s lower section, which led to his death.

Transport Malta's MSIU issued an investigation report on a fatality and another serious injury of two crew members onboard the Maltese registered bulk carrier MV Balgarka, while involved in repairs in dry-docking at the Bulyard Shipyard, Bulgaria, in October 2018.

The USCG has launched a search operation for a man who went overboard from a Carnival cruise ship on Thursday, October 24, with officials stating that the 26-year-old man was reported to have fallen from the "Carnival Dream".

New Zealand initiates its annual Safer Boating week, following a fatal winter that led to a number of boating deaths, as until now, 18 people have died in recreational boating accidents, compared to just four in the whole of last year, while 12 of this year’s fatalities have been since the end of March.
