The European Commission greenlights Croatian plans to support the construction and operation of a LNG terminal at Krk island, as they are in compliance with the EU state aid rules. The project will participate in the security and diversification of energy supplies. 

Total inked an agreement for the development of an LNG import floating terminal in Benin; the FSRUs are a better investment for an oil and gas company, in comparison to LNG carriers, as Drewry previously stated. Therefore, in order to take advantage of a FSRU's benefits, one has to get an insight on how it works. 

French oil major Total, the Republic of Benin and the Société Béninoise d’Energie Electrique (SBEE) have signed the Gas Supply Agreement and the Host Government Agreement for the development of an LNG import floating terminal in Benin.

Australian Industrial Energy announced it has granted the contract for construction of its Port Kembla Gas Terminal’s wharf and pipeline to the SCSB joint venture. The construction of the new wharf facilities and pipeline could see subcontracts worth about $76 million awarded to businesses in the Illawarra.

Australian Industrial Energy (AIE) has reached a preliminary agreement with EnergyAustralia to supply 15PJs of natural gas per annum from its Port Kembla gas terminal (PKGT). Beginning on 1 January 2021, the five-year contract will provide gas for EnergyAustralia as well as for electricity.

Bangladesh has employed its second LNG terminal with the beginning of operations of FSRU 'Summit LNG' offshore Moheshkhali Island in the Bay of Bengal. As reported by Excelerate Energy the FSRU completed the commissioning on April 29, 2019.

DNV GL and Keppel Marine and Deepwater Technology, a subsidiary of Keppel Offshore & Marine, signed a framework agreement to advance the uptake of LNG as ship fuel. The agreement regards future newbuilding projects including LNG bunker vessels, small-scale LNG carriers and floating storage regasification units, as well as LNG related assets employing battery and hybrid technologies.

Nakilat-Keppel Offshore & Marine's first FSRU has undergone maintenance work before its journey to the Bay of Bengal. When it arrives there, it will serve as Bangladesh’s second FRSU. The maintenance work took place at the Erhama Bin Jaber Al Jalahma Shipyard. During its drydocking, the FSRU went through various modifications and retrofitting of new systems, including the installation of a BWTS.

The Port Kembla Gas project in Australia entered its most advanced phase. Namely, the specific site within Port Kembla has been selected, front end engineering and design has been completed, the FSRU vessel has been secured, the Environmental Impact Statement has been submitted and reviewed, and a number of key commercial contracts are nearing finalization.  

Excelerate Energy’s Northeast Gateway Deepwater Terminal (Northeast Gateway), off Boston, achieved a peak send-out flow rate of over 800,000 MMBTU per day of natural gas on February 1, 2019, a first for the terminal. The terminal has a dual submerged turret-loading buoy system which allows for the connection of FSRUs that have been designed to meet the challenging conditions of the North Atlantic.
