The LNG tanker 'Grand Elena' hit a berth at Russia’s Sakhalin Energy project, carrying 145,000 cubic metres of LNG. The accident took place on November 27 and it is not clear when the ship will leave the port. The production was not affected, while an investigation into the in incident is ongoing.

The US warship USS John S. McCain was successfully launched from dry dock and moored pierside at Commander, Fleet Activities Yokosuka, on 27 November. The ship entered dry dock at the Navy’s Ship Repair Facility and Japan Regional Maintenance Center in Yokosuka in February, to undergo repairs from the damage it sustained in a major collision with a merchant ship in August 2017.

The container ship Hua Yuan 9999 collided with the dry bulk vessel Pu Hui 1 on Yangtze River near Taicang Port, on November 27. After the collision Hua Yuan 9999's containers fell overboard, and blocked the navigation channel of the Port.

The general cargo ship Paksoy 1, carrying the Turkish flag, collided with the Dutch ship 'EEMS Cobalt', on November 15, 25 kilometers off Borkum, Germany. According to the German maritime authorities, all 21 crew on board the vessels are safe and no injuries have been reported.

Although being hold with wires, the Norwegian frigate 'Helge Instad' was depicted almost fully submerged on Tuesday, following collision last week with the Maltese-flagged oil tanker 'Sola TS' in Hjeltefjorden, off Bergen, in the early morning hours of Thursday. The Norwegian Coastal Administration is leading the oil spill response, while the Navy is leading the work on the crash investigation.

The Sture terminal and the Kollsnes plant resumed operations on Thursday afternoon after being shut down due to the collision between the frigate KNM Helge Ingstad and the tanker Sola TS at the Sture terminal, on early Thursday morning. Also North Sea installations affected by the shut-down of the two onshore plants are gradually starting up again.

Seven people were slightly injured after the Norwegian frigate 'KNM Helge Ingstad' collided with the oil tanker 'Sola TS' off Bergen, Norway, in the early hours of Thursday 8 November. The warship developed dangerous list and all of its 137 crew were evacuated. The tanker suffered minor damage and there was no injury or oil spill reported.

Several marine incidents in China have been reported involving merchant vessels colliding with aquaculture farms, mostly off the coast of Lanshan and Rizhao areas where mussel and oyster cultivation form the bulk of aquaculture industry. Huatai Insurance Agency handled overall 71 fishery farm entry claims in China through 2017. 

Cranes on the quayside are highly exposed, due to their position on the waterfront, and probably represent in many places the highest unit cost of any operational asset at the facility. TT Club claims analyses continue to flag quay crane issues as giving rise to the highest cost incidents for ports and terminal operators, with collision risks comprising more than 50% of the costs.

A collision incident between two tankers and a container ship took place in Kaohsiung port on Saturday, October 3 morning. The 6,500 dwt chemical tanker Der Yun was moving to another and collided with the small tanker Kin Shing. After this collision, Kin Shing accidentally hit the container ship Setsu Maru.
