According to the Philippines Coast Guard a crewmember from the foreign merchant vessel ‘Grande Progreso’ allegedly fell in the sea off Laguindingan, Misamis Oriental while underway enroute to Brazil last January 15, 2019.
Specifically, the vessel, under the Japanese flag, informed the Vessel Traffic Management System Misamis Oriental staff that one of the crew members was missing onboard the vessel around 6PM of January 15.
The missing crew member is identified as Mr Dominador Calot Fuentes III, 33 years old and resident of Brgy Baliangao.

After receiving the information of the missing man, Coast Guard Sub-Station (CGSS) Tagoloan immediately informed CGS Misamis Oriental which then coordinated with CGSS Opol personnel to check the vicinity off Laguindingan for the possible sighting of the victim but had no fruitful results.
Moreover, on January 18, 10 am, the team embodied by CGSS Tagoloan and CG K-9 Northern Mindanao proceeded to vicinity waters off Villanueva Point and boarded M/V “Grande Progreso” for initial investigation.
The master of the vessel, Captain Benedict B Gepulango, reported that as the vessel was drifting off Laguindingan to Villanueva Philippine Center for anchoring on January 15, they noticed that Fuentes was missing and suspected that he fell overboard.
Concluding, CGSS Opol informed all vessels and fisherfolks transiting in the area to be on the look-out for the possible sighting of Fuentes.
