Algerian civil authorities rushed to help the crew of ro-ro after the vessel took on water, causing it to partially sink in the port of Algiers.
Due to the incident, one person was reported dead, while six other crew were taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.
The Maltese shipping company Glenhallen confirmed the incident, informing that while loading the vessel tilted, thus taking on water while moored in the port.
Seventeen crew members were rescued, with six suffering minor injuries. What is more, witnesses reported that one one person had fallen into the water, with media saying that the person died overnight.
