The US Coast Guard informed that it responded to an oil spill near Breton Sound, Louisiana, after receiving reports. According to USCG a motor vessel hit the Breton Sound 18 production platform causing the spill.
US Coast Guard Sector New Orleans watchstanders received a call at 6:29 p.m. Thursday about a 61-foot motor vessel hitting the Breton Sound 18 production platform. This caused the spill of about 840 gallons of crude oil from the platform.

Environmental Safety & Health arrived on scene and deployed boom around the platform to mitigate the spread of product, while platform personnel are working to secure the source of the leak.
There were no reported injuries.
The cause of the incident is currently under investigation.
