Dr. Dakuku Peterside believes that the 2020 regulation on fuels will bring more energy efficiency and it will also control better the environmental pollution.
He specifically said that Nigeria cannot afford not to comply with the sulphur cap, which will also mitigate global warming and other related environmental issues.
In order to achieve compliance, NIMASA will attempt to collaborate with relevant stakeholders, as well as fuel refiners and suppliers. It will also schedule for pre-enforcement information before implementing the cap.
Finally, Mr. Peterside added that ship owners, classification societies, NGOs, fuel storage facilities, and any stakeholder involved will play a critical part in determining the ways to ensure compliance.
