French shipping and logistics firm CMA CGM Group announced the introduction of Rhine Valley Rail, a new rail service connecting the Port of Rotterdam with the German hinterland.
Operated in cooperation with railway operator TFG, the Rhine Valley Rail service will officially start with its first train departure in Dortmund on October 18th.
The service foresees a total of six departures per week between the Port of Rotterdam and the German inland hubs of Dortmund, Duisburg and Ludwigshafen, providing a reliable and fast rail connection between Germany and Europe’s busiest port.
In Rotterdam, the trains will call at three different terminals (Euromax, RWG and ECT).
Rhine Valley Rail is in line with CMA CGM’s strategy to offer reliable intermodal end-to-end transport solutions, as this new service is independent of the road and barge congestion or the disruption caused by Rhine river water levels.
