The Maritime Coastguard Agency announced that its latest Port Marine Safety Code Compliance exercise, has officially opened, while the deadline for submissions is until 31 March 2021.
In fact, the marine notice sets out the PMSC compliance date for UK Ports, Harbours and Marinas for the Period of 2021-2024.
To remind, every three years, the MCA asks that the Duty Holders of all UK ports, harbours and other marine facilities to confirm their organisation’s compliance and implementation of the principles and recommendations in UK Government’s Port Marine Safety Code and Guide to Good Practice.
What is more, Port Marine Safety Code (PMSC) is applicable to both statutory harbour authorities and to other marine facilities which may not have statutory powers and duties.
The Code is endorsed by the UK Government, devolved administrations and representatives from across the maritime sector and while the Code is not mandatory, these bodies have a strong expectation that all harbour authorities will comply.
This is a cross-industry exercise which we would strongly encourage ports and operators to participate in, firstly as evidence of their own safety compliance performance but also to ensure the credibility of the industry supported PMSC document and arrangements.
…as British Port Association noted.
Concluding, it has been confirmed this week that the deadline for the compliance exercise is 31st March 2021.
