Lessons form Marine Accident Reports
UK Marine Accident Investigation Branch has just published its Safety Digest 2/2013 including lessons from maritime accidents reports.
The Marine Accident Investigation Branch (MAIB) examines and investigates all types of marineaccidents to or on board UK vessels worldwide, and other vessels in UK territorial waters.
Located in offices in Southampton, the MAIB is a separate, independent branch within theDepartment for Transport (DfT). The head of the MAIB, the Chief Inspector of Marine Accidents,reports directly to the Secretary of State for Transport.
This Safety Digest draws the attention of the marine community to some of the lessons arisingfrom investigations into recent accidents and incidents. It contains information which has beendetermined up to the time of issue.
