The container logistics company, Maersk announced that undertook the pick, pack and the final delivery of the first-ever Sri Lankan made electric supercar named as “Vega EVX”. Namely, the car will be embarked in one of Maersk’s containers and is scheduled to be unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in March.
Through this project, Maersk plans to further advance and spread its cargo delivery services across India/Sri Lanka and South Asia.
We are pleased to enable the entire journey of the supercar through our integrated end-to-end logistic offerings. Our aim is always to reduce the infrastructure and operational issues for our customers and simplify logistics for them, thereby also reducing the overall cost for the shippers.
…said Steve Felder, Managing Director, Maersk South Asia.
The car was manufactured by Vega Innovations and at the moment is en route at Port of Rotterdam, from where it will continue the journey towards to its final destination, Geneva, Switzerland.
Maersk Lanka’s team will manage the product’s transportation and constantly monitor its journey via real-time tracking.
Shipping of a high-value supercar involves various logistical challenges. It requires a full-service solution with one point of contact from beginning to end to increase the efficiency and lower the workload.
…Harsha Subasinghe, CodeGen Group CEO and founder of Vega Innovations noted.
Overall, Maersk recently informed that will increase fuel surcharge imposed on the transport of boxloads of goods as the implementation of the new environmental rules sent the industry’s costs soaring.
