Maersk’s container ship ‘Cecilie Maersk’ had a collision with the fishing vessel ‘Le Puffin’ on August 7. The container ship was heading to Le Port, Reunion off Madagascar.
Namely, the container ship ‘Cecilie Maersk’ collided with the small French 16-meter fishing boat ‘Le Puffin’ about 20 nm east of Le Port, Reunion, on August 7, while it was approaching port.

Five crewmembers of the fishing vessel evacuated the boat, while it remained afloat and then towed to port.
However, ‘Cecilie Maersk’ turned back after the collision and took part in search and rescue operations. According to reports the container ship managed to pick up the fishermen.
No injuries were reported, while the fishing vessel sustained damages to its hull and an investigation will be conducted into this accident.
