RMI Marine Safety Advisory No 26-14
The Republic of the Marshall Islands has issued Marine Safety Advisory No 26-14 to advise thatthe United States Coast Guard Navigation Center stated that a number of GPS users have recently reported system outages.
The United States Air Force (USAF) has determined that all GPS satellites are operating properly, but that certain GPS receivers are erroneously ignoring the satellite health status information being broadcast.
Satellite Vehicle Number (SVN) 64 currently broadcasts a data message indicating that SVN 64 is unusable for navigation.Some GPS receivers are using the information regardless, resulting in outages or corrupted, incorrect position calculations.
Owners and operators that experience this anomaly should contact their equipment manufacturers for software/firmware updates.
