Port of Rotterdam’s application ‘Navigate’ is now operational in the ports of Gdansk and SOHAR. Now, importers and exporters are able to select the ideal transport options for containers they want to ship. The application also contains an online information guide for the ports.
The Navigate application was launched in 2017 by the port of Rotterdam, providing information into connections and companies and into ports. The application provides data on sea and short connections of 550 ports globally. Also, the application links the data with rail and inland shipping connections.
Allard Castelein, CEO Port of Rotterdam Authority, commented
The development of this application and its roll-out to other ports fits in our ambition to make the Port of Rotterdam the smartest port in the world. Taking the lead in the digital transformation will make the Port of Rotterdam more efficient, reliable and competitive.
He continued that ‘the more ports use Navigate, the more valuable the application becomes.’

In addition, the application has many options depending on departure point and selected destination. The user is presented with all the sea connections and options by rail, inland shipping or truck to the hinterland destination.
Anacin Kum, CEO of Hutchison Ports SOHAR, highlighted
Navigate has been developed especially for companies seeking smarter ways to plan their container transports. The launch of this tool is a good first step and we are excited about its role in the global logistics market.
