Poland's Port of Gdansk welcomed through a ceremony the visit of the first Euro-China Train (ECT), as China’s modern-day silk road, the Belt and Road Initiative, reaches the Baltic. Specifically, the train will depart from Xi'an China through the Adampol Małaszewicze land terminal to the DCT maritime container terminal in the Port of Gdańsk.

During a maritime and business delegation from Poland to Singapore, the Port of Gdansk, Europe’s fastest growing port, has announced remarkable expansion plans aiming to double its cargo volumes to 100m tonnes annually. According to the Port of Gdansk Authority vice-president for infrastructure, for this to happen, the current infrastructure investment programme of €591m and the plans for the new Central Port are of vital importance.

The Port of Gdansk Authority has signed an agreement with a consulting company, aiming to support the construction of the port basing on a public-private partnership model. In the meantime, during 2019, the Port of Gdansk set new records in cargo handling, while also continuing its intensive work on its key infrastructural project which is the Central Port.

Port of Rotterdam's application 'Navigate' is now operational in the ports of Gdansk and SOHAR. Now, importers and exporters are able to select the ideal transport options for containers they want to ship. The application also contains an online information guide for the ports.
