Singapore and India expected to sign a Letter of Intent (LoI) for a green digital shipping corridor (GDSC), which aims to link the Indian marine sector to the global network.
The Letter of Intent (LoI) is expected to be signed during Union Shipping Minister Shri Sarbananda Sonowal’s visit to Singapore next week.
Sonowal will lead a delegation to the Singapore Maritime Week (SMW) from March 24 to 28. While it is anticipated that the LoI will be signed during the event, details are yet to be confirmed.
The Green Digital Shipping Corridor is set to enhance maritime trade between India and the global shipping industry. India as reported aims to export green fuels, including biofuels, to the region while also sharing its digital expertise.
We are thinking of establishing a letter of intent with India as a start. It is something we are still working towards.
…said Teo Eng Dih, Chief Executive, MPA.
To remind, recently, India introduced its Bills of Lading Bill, 2025, aiming to replace the colonial-era Indian Bills of Lading Act, 1856, providing a more modern and user-friendly approach to maritime shipping.
