IMCA Safety Flashes summarise key safety matters and incidents, allowing lessons to be more easily learnt for the benefit of shipping players.
In light of the situation, IMCA issued a summary of the seventeen Safety Flashes published so far during 2021.
As informed, the 17 Flashes comprised 82 individual incidents or events, while 55 of those incidents or events came from 22 IMCA members.
What is more, in 13 out of 17 accidents, equipment failure was the main cause.
At the same time, 13 people got injured, while six finger injuries were marked during the last six months.
Concluding, in 6 incidents someone was successfully able “to stop the job” or failure to stop the job was a causal factor.
