Hyundai Heavy Industries claims that it has developed a ship operation system by retrofitting its generator-engine model with advanced information and communication technologies. More specifically, it uses artificial intelligence to reduce fuel expenses by more than 10%.
Namely, HiEMS and AI collect and analyze the big data, as well as real-time information of a vessel’s engine, making the right adjustments to enhance fuel efficiency, local media report.

Commenting on this development, an HHI official noted that the company is following the digital age, and plans to use high technologies for advancement of smart vessels.
HHI’s Integrated Smart Ship Solution has received certification from ABS. The system analyzes vessels’ real-time operation data, recommending optimal paths.
As of now, HHI informs that it has won orders for 130 ships.
