Following the coronavirus oubtreak and the challenges within the cruise industry, cruise ship “SeaDream 1” received a preliminary positive test result for COVID-19, CNN news agency reported.
For the records, “SeaDream 1” is the first cruise vessel to resume sailing in the Caribbean since the beginning of the pandemic.
Although passengers were tested both in advance of traveling to the ship and also before boarding the ship, there was an indication that a passenger was coronavirus positive.
In light the above, the captain informed passengers of the preliminary positive test over the ship’s intercom system shortly before lunchtime, on 11 November.
Following the announcement, passengers were instructed to return to their cabins and remain isolated there.
According to CNN, the vessel was anchored off Union Island in the Grenadines at the time of the announcement and was immediately headed back to Barbados.
Concluding, the cruise line had agreed with the destinations in the Caribbean that passengers would remain separated from the population in order to reduce the spread of the virus.
