Fire broke out in the engine room of the container ship General Romulo on April 17. As a result, the Chief Engineer died, and three more suffered burns.
According to information, while General Romulo was anchored at Talisay anchorage, Cebu City, fire broke out in its engine room.
The fire quickly spread around and engulfed most part of superstructure.
At the time of the incident, there were 20 crew onboard, and a rescue mission took place to evacuate them.
However, reports indicate that the Chief Engineer died, while three crew suffered burns.
As a result, the ship was abandoned.
In a similar recent incident, one person was killed and six got injured after an oil tanker explosion took place off Hong Kong on April 16.
A fire on the oil tanker was put out by the time rescuers arrived, as AFP news agency reported. However, the ship is believed to have lost its mobility.
The cause of the explosion is still unclear, while authorities were unable to confirm if there were oil spills.
