DNV GL has granted Navis, part of Cargotec’s business area Kalmar, an MRV Ready classification for its Bluetracker MRV module, according to the company’s statement.
According to DNV GL, Navis’s Bluetracker MRV module meets the EU monitoring, reporting and verification (MRV) regulations, supporting the prescribed monitoring methods, while collecting all MRV-relevant data.
The MRV regulation aims to quantify and reduce CO2 emissions from shipping. As of 2018, large ships using EU ports will be required to report their verified annual emissions.
The MRV regulations state that a ship monitoring plan must be submitted to accredited verifiers for validation by end-August 2017.
