The Trident Alliance, a network consisting of shipping companies and other interested parties that have the common goal on the transparent enforcement of environmental regulations, welcomes the entry of CSL Group and Oldendorff Carriers as its newest members.
The Trident Alliance highlights that its members commit to complying with sulphur regulations, and supporting robust and transparent enforcement of sulphur regulations.
The newly-added members, along with the existing ones, are committed to be in compliance with the new and approaching IMO 2020 maritime sulphur regulations and support robust and transparent enforcement of these regulations.
Louis Martel, President and CEO of CSL Group commented
Safety and environmental stewardship are fundamental corporate objectives and core values at CSL.
In 2018, the Trident Alliance called for adoption without no further delay of IMO carriage ban for fuel with sulphur content over 0.5%, as a means for the successful implementation of the 2020 sulphur cap.
According to the Alliance
The Trident Alliance believes robust and effective enforcement is vital if the full health and environmental benefits of the 2020 sulphur cap are to be achieved while also preserving fair competition. At MEPC 73 in October IMO Member States must formally adopt the carriage ban on non-compliant fuels for implementation in 2020, as it is a fundamental tool for securing strong global enforcement.
