The RCGS Resolute cruise ship was briefly arrested earlier in August, while it was anchored in Iqaluit. Namely, the Nunavut sheriff’s office received a claim and warrant from the Federal Court in Halifax, and then was requested to perform the arrest.
The statement of claim lists the RCGS Resolute and its owners as defendants, stating that the defendants owed about $100,000 to a Nova Scotia-based company. The allegations haven’t been proven in court, CBC reports.

The sheriff’s office was contacted on August 8, and starting filing all the correct paperwork. The next day the sheriffs went to the docks and served the documents to the Captain.
This meant that the ship could not move until a further court order arrived.
A few hours later, the sherrifs received information that the cruise ship could be released and was allowed to continue the journey.
While the arrest was in place, passengers were still able to travel to and from the ship.
