The Hamburg Sud containership “Cap San Antonio” hit a ferry pier on June 20 in Santos, Brazil. The vessel suffered a small hull breach and creasing to port side hull plates.
Confirming the incident, Hamburg Sud informed that there is no record of victims involved in the incident, on or off the ship, or that the region has been polluted in any way.
The company is evaluating the situation and collaborating with the authorities
After the collision on the Guaruja side of the waterway, the latter was badly damaged and closed for a time. What is more, some loading ramps collapsed and were dragged by the container vessel into the harbor.
Currently, port officials are investigating the circumstances of the accident along with the Navy.
Furthermore, the weather during the incident was fine, and could not have impacted navigation.
