CMA CGM announced the first delivery from the Korean-built series of 12 new generation dual-fuel methanol 13,000 TEUs vessels.
As announced, CMA CGM IRON, the company’s first dual-fuel methanol vessel, made its maiden call on 4 March at the Port of Singapore. Built in Korea by Hyunday Samho Heavy Industries, the CMA CGM IRON is the first in a series of 12 dual-fuel methanol vessels with a capacity of 13,000 TEUs.
Other vessels in the series include: CMA CGM COBALT, ARGON, PLATINUM, MERCURY, HELIUM, KRYPTON, THORIUM, OSMIUM, SILVER, COPPER, GOLD and will be progressively deployed in 2025 and 2026.
Thanks to our long-standing collaboration with the South Korean shipyard Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries, we have met the challenge of this new propulsion system. This feat of engineering brings us closer to the Net Zero Carbon goal, complementing our dual-fuel gas-powered vessels.
