A cargo ship carrying sand sank off China’s Liaoning Province, local authorities informed on Sunday, October 21. As a result of the sinking, eleven people are missing.
The accident took place at around 3 a.m. local time, while the search and rescue center of Huludao City received a report about the sinking about two hours after, at around 5 a.m.
The maritime search and rescue center along with the city government have now deployed vessels, aircraft and over 500 rescuers which are conducting a search and rescue operation to find the missing persons.
The investigation of the sinking is ongoing.
