Vessels detained after boy goes missing

Three inter-island Taio Shipping Limited vessels have been detained by the Ministry of Transport in the Cook Islands, after a young boy from Auckland disappeared from a vessel last month. The seven-year was lost when on board the MV Lady Moana, travelling from Rakahanga to Rarotonga.

Indonesia ends search and rescue operations for missing Nur Allya

Indonesia’s National Search and Rescue Agency announced that they are halting the search and rescue operations for the missing Indonesia-flagged Nur Allya. The vessel disappeared in late July. According to the authorities, the operations stopped on September 9.

34 presumed dead after California boat fire, USCG suspends search

The US Coast Guard announced suspension of their search for survivors aboard the diving boat ‘Conception’, Tuesday, following a 23-hour search covering approximately 160 square miles. A total of 34 people are considered to have perished, after the vessel caught fire and sank off California on Monday morning. 

Lifeboat from missing bulk carrier found off Indonesia

Search and rescue teams have discovered signs of the missing bulk carrier ‘Nur Allya’, almost two weeks after the ship disappeared off eastern Indonesia, along wits its 25 crew. Local media report that a lifeboat belonging to the ship has been found, while an oil sheen has been discovered in the area. 

Crew man falls overboard bulk carrier off Taiwan

A crew member went overboard from the Hong Kong-flagged bulk carrier ‘KSL Singapore’ while the ship was 8.26 nautical miles Southwest of Orchid Island, Taiwan, according to data provided by the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG). The man was last seen onboard on 24 August.

Bulk carrier with 25 crew disappears off east Indonesia

Search and rescue operations are underway for the Indonesian-flagged bulk carrier ‘Nur Allya’, which has been missing along with its 25 crew members, after sending a distress signal in waters off eastern Indonesia on Sunday. The ship was carrying nickel ore to Southeast Sulawesi province.

The US Department of Defense announced Tuesday the death of a sailor who has been missing since mid July and is believed to have gone overboard from the US warship ‘Abraham Lincoln’, while supporting Operation Freedom’s Sentinel.

27 dead as fishing vessel sinks off Honduras

A fishing vessel sank during bad weather on July 3, off Honduras’s northern coast. At least 27 fishermen lost their lives, according to Honduras’s military. In addition, nine people are still missing, while 55 others have been rescued. Commenting on the incident, Jose Domingo Meza, a spokesperson for the military, noted that the vessel’s Capt. Waly started sailing during inappropriate weather for fishing.

Abduction off Malaysia: Nine crew released, one still missing

Nine out of the ten fishermen who were kidnapped in Malaysian waters last week are reportedly free, according to data provided by the ReCAAP ISC. The nine men were brought to Talipao for custody and debrief. One of the abducted crew is still missing.

USCG in search of missing vessel off Canaveral

The US Coast Guard has initiated a research for a missing vessel on the afternoon hours of Sunday, east of Port Canaveral, Florida. USCG Jacksonville Command Center watchstanders received a distress call at 4 p.m. from a vessel, stating they were caught in a storm and were in need of assistance.
