The UK P&I Club Bulletin 916
The UK P&I Club has issued Bulletin 916 regarding the Brazilian reporting system SISTRAM. From the 15th October, the Brazilian Navy is introducing a new marine traffic information and reporting system.
Vessels sailing under foreign flags, not chartered to Brazilian owners, are invited to report routes and eventual occurrences while sailing in the Brazilian jurisdictional waters (200nm from the coast) and obligated to report routes and any eventual navigation facts while sailing in the Brazilian Territory (12nm from the coast).
Vessels sailing with the Brazilian flag and those chartered by Brazilian ship owners are obligated to report routes and navigation facts anywhere in the world.
The system is coming to force from 15th October 2013. The normative that rules the use of the system doesn’t foresee sanctions for vessels non compliant with the requirements.
