Tim Springett

Tim Springett is the UK Chamber of Shipping’ Policy Director for employment, occupational health and safety and legal issues. He led the UK shipowner delegation that negotiated the ILO Maritime Labour Convention, 2006 and the reviews of the IMO conventions on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping and Limitation of Liability for Maritime Claims. Tim chairs the International Chamber of Shipping Labour Affairs Committee and, as such, serves as spokesperson for global shipowners at the International Labour Organisation. He is a former Chairperson of the ECSA Social Affairs Committee and manages the National Maritime Occupational Health and Safety Committee (NMOHSC), which comprises the UK Chamber and the unions Nautilus International and RMT. The NMOHSC has held over 100 meetings and developed guidelines to shipping companies on a wide range of topics to promote the safety, health and welfare of seafarers. Tim holds a BA Degree in European Studies, a CPE Diploma in Law and a Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice. He attained a Master's Degree in International Maritime Law from the World Maritime University in 2016. When time permits, Tim enjoys long-distance running and is also a keen singer and musician.
