APM Terminals announced that its Mumbai terminal handled more than 2 million TEUs throughput for the second consecutive year in 2019. Commissioned in 2006, the terminal remains the only Indian container terminal to have achieved this record in a calendar year.
Initiatives, implemented in partnership with CFSs, such as ‘Vehicle Booking System’ and digitization measures, such as ‘Customer Service Portal’ have boosted efforts to this result, APM Terminals explained.
In line with its embracing of digitization interventions, the terminal embraced in 2017 ‘Direct Port Delivery’ service, initiated by the Indian government as part of its “Ease of Doing Business Program”, aiming to enhance India’s access to the global logistics chain.
Additionally, in 2016, it became the first Indian container terminal to go paperless by providing shipping lines electronically the required Export Form 13 for export containers entering the terminal by truck.
As a team, we are proud to have achieved the milestone of 2 million TEUs once again,
…says Mr. Girish Aggarwal, COO, APM Terminals Mumbai.
