A worker at Ingalls Shipbuilding in Pascagoula, Mississippi lost his life afte sustaining injuries during an accident last week.
The worker was a tank tester at Ingalls, and was critically injured while he was working aboard a newbuild U.S. Navy vessel. More specifically, local media report that a tank lid struck the worker in the head.
After the incident, he was taken to a hospital where he was treated for severe facial fractures and a severe brain injury.
Providing a brief statement about the accident, an Ingalls spokesperson expressed the company’s sympathy “for the passing of our fellow shipbuilder.”
