A tanker smashed into a bridge near Japan’s Kansai International Airport, forcing one of the country’s largest airports to close, as a result from Typhoon Jebi. At least 10 people have lost their life since Tuesday, from the strongest typhoon to hit Japan’s mainland in 25 years.
Apart from destructing buildings, the strong winds and heavy rain as a result from Jebi yanked the 89-meter-long tanker ‘Houunmaru’ from its anchorage in Osaka and rammed it into the bridge connecting Kansai Airport with the mainland, CNN reported.
The video, released by AIRLIVE net, depicts how the ship’s upper decks hit the bridge, dislodging a portion of the road and forcing authorities to close it to traffic.
At the time of the incident, 11 crew members were onboard, but there were no injuries, according to the Japan Coast Guard.
