As part of the North P&I Club’s insight series, Colin Gillespie, Deputy Director (Loss Prevention), highlights key issues with respect to cyber risk management in the maritime and notes the importance of having the right protocols in place to counter cyber threats. The Club has been alerted of the rising cyber threat within the maritime industry for quite some time and urges operators to consider cyber risks and take steps to protect their companies.
Namely, Mr. Gillespie answers, among others, the following key questions:
- What are the cyber risks in shipping?
- Does P&I cover these risks?
- What steps should members take to protect themselves?
- Are there any quick and easy solutions to do so?
Mr. Gillespie was a keynote speaker at the SAFETY4SEA Cyber Masterclass, held at the Bookcastle of the National Library at Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC) in Athens, on 16th of May.
