The International Chamber of Shipping (ICS), in collaboration with its members, has recently launched an inspiring new video titled “Life After Sea.”
This production aims to showcase the diverse and intriguing career opportunities within the maritime industry. The video presents various maritime professionals expressing their thoughts and view on what seafaring means and why it is a fascinating, life-changing profession.
ICS presents this moving collection of inspiring interviews to give perspective on what seafaring entails, from a seafarers point of view. Furthermore, apart from focusing on what being onboard and travelling across the world is like, the seafarers also highlight how their career at sea has presented them with skills and opportunities that can help them pursuit careers onshore.
Luckily, the major shipping organizations have paying more attention to seafarers’ personal experiences and what it’s like to live and work onboard. For instance, to celebrate this year’s International Day of the Seafarer, the International Maritime Organization has asked seafarers to share #SafetyTipsAtSea. The campaign will look at seafarers’ contribution to making the maritime sector a safer workplace. To engage seafarers, IMO wants them to share their best safety tips at sea, whether it’s the gear they wear or the training they receive.
