Hapag-Lloyd has released a video which shows how an LNG (liquified natural gas) tank was installed aboard the dual-fuel containership Berlin Express.
According to the company, Berlin Express was delivered on June 14th. The container ship is the first of twelve newbuildings, each with 23,600 TEU and dual-fuel propulsion. The ships will be fitted with dual-fuel engines that run on LNG, but also have adequate tank capacity to run on regular fuel.
The 400 metre long and 61 metre broad ships will be among the biggest in the world, the company claims.
The LNG tank was installed during the ship’s building at Hanwha Ocean shipyard in South Korea.
