On 16 June 2020, the Japanese cruise vessel “Asuka II” which was docked in Yokohama Port, near Tokyo reported a fire onboard its storage area on the top floor.
In light of the above, Japanese Coast Guard authorities along with dozens of firefighters and the ship’s 153 crew members immediately acted, as it took them around three hours to extinguish the fire.
At the moment, the reason behind the fire remains unknown and an investigation will be further conducted.
Thankfully, there were no any injuries reported according to the Japan Coast Guard.
For the records, Asuka II is one of Japan’s largest cruise ships, operated by NYK Line.
Concluding, the cruise ship has been berthed at Yokohama Port where it had undergone maintenance.
